Charlemagne Wine Club - 2006 Tastings

Monday 10th April 2006
Wine Rack introduced by Jimmy Smith
Selling quality wines on the High Street often presents a real challenge, especially with the growth of alternative distributions channels like Internet sites. Over the last few years, we have seen the departure from Ealing of several loved wine merchants. However, one company who are determined to turn this trend around is Wine Rack. They have gone in for rebranding their stores and providing a range of high quality wines in collaboration with some of the industry’s top names. The Pitshanger Lane branch of Wine Rack is one of the first to be given a makeover. Manager Jimmy Shaw will be taking time out from his WSET Diploma studies to demonstrate the result, assisted by specialists from two of his suppliers.
After a champagne starter from Maxxium, Oz Clarke (in a video rather than in person – sorry!) will explain a bit about the new face of Wine Rack. Hatch Mansfield will present some of their quality Burgundy and New World wines, and Jimmy will round off the evening with some samples of Wine Rack’s new Prestige Showcase.
Be warned – there will be more bottles than normal in this tasting, so plan on using the spittoons or walking home!
