Fine Red Burgundy presented by Paul Mapplebeck
Burgundy produces some of the world’s finest red wines but they can be so expensive and yet disappointing if not chosen with great care. We’ve asked Paul Mapplebeck to present a selection from his carefully chosen personal stocks.
After starting with a standard village wine to perk up our palates, we will taste a series of premier and grand crus searching for that “forest floor” fruitiness of top pinot noir.
The wines will include:
1999 Volnay-Chevrets 1er cru (Rossignol-Jeannier); 1987 Chambolle Musigny – Les Charmes 1er cru (Ponsot); 1996 Gevrey Chambertin- Abeilles (Ponsot); 1987 Charmes Chambertin grand cru (Armand Rousseau); 1998 Mazis Chambertin grand cru (Bernard Maume); 1995 Vougeot (Chopin Groffier).
