Charlemagne Wine Club - 2008 Tastings

Chile presented by Christos Ioannou

According to the latest Nielsen figures, sales of Chilean wine in the UK for the year to July 2007 rose 15% by volume and value, and Chile has now overtaken Spain to become the 6th biggest player in the off-trade. Chile at one time was best known for its good value merlot and chardonnay, but in recent years its winemakers have become increasingly innovative in planting a much wider range of grape varieties and in developping a number of new cool climate regions.
Christos tok part in a study tour to Chile for WSET tutors in October last year, and so will be able to share with us all the latest news and developments from this exciting country, not to mention lots of photos as well.
He will be showing us a range of wines both from well known names and also from some of the newer producers like Tabali, Morande and Matetic.
