Quirky Burgundy with Andrew Hooper of Lea and Sandeman

Burgundy specialist Lea and Sandeman make a welcome return to Charlemagne this month.

Andrew Hooper has made a special "quirky" selection of wines for us that shows the breadth of styles that can be found in this region. We begin in Chablis with a Premier Cru wine from a new producer who is highly rated by Robert Parker, and continue to the Maconnais for more Chardonnays from the village of Viré Clessé. The Côte d’Or will provide most of the reds with an old vine Chassagne Montrachet as the high point.

We’re not sure that we have ever tasted a dessert wine from Burgundy, until now….. We’ll finish the evening with a botrytis affected Chardonnay from Macon. We hope it’s good. It’s certainly expensive, even by Burgundian standards!

This is a tasting opportunity not to be missed!
