Red Hill Estate - Meet the Winemaker presented by Michael Kyberd
Michael Kyberd reckons he is a Winemaker blessed with one of the most naturally beautiful workplaces in the world. "I have always preferred elegant but complex wines which showcase beautiful fruit flavours" he says. "This made the Mornington Peninsula, which produces some of the finest Chardonnay and Pinot Noir (amongst other varieties), a very easy choice of workplace".
Red Hill Estate is a 50 acre cool climate property located on one of the most elevated areas of the Mornington Peninsula, south of Melbourne. Cool climate vineyards enjoy a long, gentle ripening season. They produce grapes with a complex mixture of flavours and high levels of natural acidity; an ideal combination for making delicious, intense wines.
Those of you who came to the tasting of wines from the Mornington Peninsula a few years ago will remember Michael's great enthusiasm and insight, and the quality of his wines and those from other producers in this region.
The wines have arrived special delivery from Australia in two huge boxes. A Blanc de Blanc, Blanc de Noir, a Pinot Grigio, some Chardonnays, some Pinot Noirs, a Cab/Merlot and a Shiraz. It promises to be a good evening.
