Affordable Burgundy ? presented by David Carter
Great Burgundies are the wines to which many of us aspire - to taste and be able to afford. Sadly for most of us the reality is more of a dream - the affordable bit.
Fortunately for us the experts at Decanter Magazine have recently addressed the dilemma and the results of their extensive tasting of Red and White Burgundy under £20 were published several months ago.
You now have the opportunity to match palates with the experts and to discover what value there is in the price bracket below Domaine Romanee Conti.
As the wines have not all be sourced and some are already unavailable the final selection has not been completed but so far the whites will be Les Vignerons de Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru, Grenouille 1999; Louis Josse Meursault 1998; a generic Bourgogne and something from the Cote de Nuits or Maconnais. The reds will include Domaine Heresztyn, Gevrey Chambertin, Vielle Vignes 1999 and other selections from the Cote de Nuits and Cote de Beaune.
