Alsace - Domaine Bott-Geyl and Bio-dynamique viticulture
presented by Freddy Price
Alsace is the most beautiful wine region in the old world, with its mediaeval villages strung along the east-facing slopes of the Vosges Mountains. The top Rieslings are superb and the Pinot Gris, Muscats and Gewurztraminers have no rivals - anywhere.
Freddy Price will describe the principles and practice of Bio-Dynamic viticulture and how it is spreading worldwide. There are now over 30 Bio-Dynamic wine estates in Alsace and Jean-Christophe Bott's wines, from plain Pinot d'Alsace to the Grands Crus, will illustrate this inspirational philosophy.
Freddy Price was a wine merchant and importer and has explored most of the wine regions in the world with his wife Janet, a specialist wine photographer. He has written articles for Decanter Magazine for many years and his first book, Riesling Renaissance, with of course Janet's photographs, was published in 2004.
