Fortified Wines with John Douglas

Many members will be familiar with John Douglas, a long-standing friend of the Club who
has presented on numerous occasions. He has a wealth of wine knowledge and
experience, particularly about the wines of Spain and Portugal.
To get us in the mood for the approaching festive season, this month John will be
presenting a selection of fortified wines.
The focus will be on the well-known areas of Sherry, Madeira and Port, but with an
emphasis on wood-aged wines and coverage of less well-known styles.
The Sherries will be examples of old solera wines, while Port and Madeira will have
examples of colheitas (wines produced from a single vintage), as well as some single
quinta wines from the Douro.
The cost is £25 per person, a little more than the norm for Charlemagne but the Club will be subsidising the wine so it is good value and will support a local restaurant!
