Unusual Grape Varieties with Lena Inger
There’s more to wine than just Cabernet and Chardonnay. There’s a whole bucket full of tempting aromas and flavours nurtured by talented growers and winemakers from indigenous varieties that most of us have never heard of. Arneis, Pinot Meslier, Savagnin, Baga, Manseng – both gros and petit, and many many more get a mention in Jancis Robinson’s great book on the subject of vines. Some of them will be on show for you.
Our good friend Lena Inger is a passionate and enthusiastic advocate for some of these unheralded varieties which can produce wines of quality and character. Among her choices she’s hoping to show a champagne made using 5 of the permitted grape varieties………… and we thought there were only 3.
Come and join Lena for what promises to be a fascinating and flavourful evening.
