Sicily is an island with a wine-growing tradition dating back centuries, millennia in fact. In recent years it has become a hot bed of innovation, research and creativity which has resulted in some fantastic wines being produced in a range of styles and at prices to suit everyone.
Etna and its volcanic soils has become a focus for much of this activity but wine is produced across the island from a range of indigenous varieties – grillo, nerello mascalese, nero d’avola, frappato to name a few. The final selection hasn’t been made yet but I aim to reflect the exciting and delicious wines that are available from this beautiful island.
