2022 -November: Pacific Coast Burgundy

This month’s tasting takes us to the Pacific coast of North America. It was here, in 1912, that one of our producers imported a Chardonnay clone from Burgundy that became the source material for 80% of American Chardonnay plantings today. Years later, Joseph Drouhin brought a Burgundian perspective to the pioneering Willamette Valley in Oregon, now recognised as one of the premier wine growing regions in the world, and talking of pioneering, let’s not forget the famous TV frontiersman from the 50s who set up a cattle ranch in the little known Santa Rita Hills but turned it into a successful vineyard to pass on to his future generations.

We’ll be tasting Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines from California, the Willamette Valley in Oregon and from the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia, Canada. These are wines with a story. Do come along to taste and listen.
