Monday 17 January “All about the light!”
Michael Seresin is one of those rare people who has managed to make a name for himself in two quite distinct fields: filmmaking and wine. Born in Wellington, on New Zealand’s North Island, he left for Europe in 1966 forging a successful career as a cinematographer in the movies, which continues to this day. He’s noted for the nine films he made with director Allan Parker, including Bugsy Malone, Midnight Express and Fame, as well as for his work with Alfonso Cuarón on the third Harry Potter film, The Prisoner of Azkabhan, and Gravity. He was also the camera operator on The Beatles’ Magical Mystery Tour.
A love of food and wine, together with time spent in Italy turned his thoughts to making wine. He started looking for land in Italy but then a bottle of Cloudy Bay diverted his gaze towards Marlborough in his native New Zealand. Seresin Estate was born. The vineyards were converted to organic farming in the 1990s and are now biodynamic accredited.
We will be tasting a pair of Sauvignon Blancs and six of his Pinot Noirs from different plots around the estate including the 2013 Sun and Moon.
Details on attending CWC tastings can be found on our About CWC wine tastings page.
